Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Meet the Yonkers Team Behind Hadley Chimney Yonkers

Hadley Chimney Yonkers has worked out of this city since 2003, and the crew who shows up at your door is the same crew you’ll see at the lumberyard or the diner on Saw Mill River Road. We’re not a rotating cast of subcontractors. We’re a small, tight group of technicians who live in Westchester or just across the Bronx line, and we know Yonkers chimneys the way you can only know them from two decades of getting up on these roofs. Most of us have been with Cory for going on ten years. The newer guys get trained by the older guys, and nobody works alone until they’ve proven they can spot a compromised flue tile from across a roof. We’re background-checked, uniformed, and we carry the same written-price-before-work policy on every single job, whether it’s a Level 1 sweep in a Dunwoodie split-level or a full reline down by Getty Square.

Our People

Cory Mitchell, Owner and Lead Technician

Cory founded Hadley Chimney Yonkers in 2003 after spending his early twenties apprenticing with a masonry outfit in the Hudson Valley. He still climbs roofs most weeks, because he says that’s the only way to keep the crew honest about what “done right” actually looks like. Cory is the one who writes the guarantee language on your invoice and the one who picks up the phone when something goes wrong, which means he takes repair failures kind of personally. He specializes in tricky flue liner replacements and older masonry chimneys that have been patched over one too many times by people who didn’t understand how much those brick chimneys in Park Hill and Crestwood can shift over sixty or eighty years. Cory keeps a running list of the weirdest things he’s pulled out of flues: nests, newspaper, a tennis ball, once a shoe. He’ll tell you the shoe story if you ask, but only after he’s walked you through your camera report.

Marcus T., Senior Installer

Marcus has been with Hadley side since 2011 and runs most of our bigger repair jobs, which in Yonkers means a lot of rain-damaged chimney crowns, spalling brick, and flashing replacements. He’s certified on DuraFlex and HeatShield system installs, and he’s the guy who makes sure every liner is sized and terminated correctly rather than just “good enough.” Marcus is particular about water management, because he’s seen how many Yonkers homeowners get sold a new liner when the actual problem was a failed crown and flashing letting water pour down the chase for years. When he’s not pulling liner sections up a roof, Marcus is restoring a 1970s Ford pickup in his garage, which his wife tolerates because it keeps him out of the living room. He is not a talkative man, but he will answer every question you have about why your damper is rusted shut, and he’ll show you the photos to back it up.

Elena R., Service Coordinator

Elena is the voice on the phone when you call Hadley Chimney Yonkers, which means she’s the first and last person most of our customers deal with. She’s been with us since 2017 and knows the Yonkers map cold: whether you’re in a center-hall colonial in Lawrence Park, a converted multifamily off Nepperhan Avenue, or a condo near the Yonkers Metro-North station, she can usually tell you what kind of chimney situation you’ve got before we even pull up a satellite view. Elena schedules the techs, sends the arrival windows, and walks every customer through the flat written quote before any work starts. Before Hadley, she ran dispatch for an HVAC company in Mount Vernon, so she knows what it’s like when you’re stuck home all day waiting on a four-hour window. Her goal is that you never have to ask “where is the tech.” You’ll get tracking, and if something shifts, she’ll call you herself.

Devin P., Apprentice Technician

Devin is the newest member of the crew, hired in 2023 after two years doing gutter and roofing work around southern Westchester. He’s in the middle of his chimney certification track and mostly runs support on sweeps: setting up the drop cloths, managing the vacuum system, and hauling brush rods up ladders so the lead tech can stay focused on the flue. Devin’s the one who gets sent onto the tight roof pitches in Colonial Heights while the senior guys stay put, which he’ll mention if you ask why there’s a twenty-three-year-old on your ridge line. He’s also the one who takes the before-and-after photos on every job, which matters in Yonkers because a lot of these chimneys hide surprises: cracked clay tiles, separated mortar joints, squirrel nests packed into the smoke shelf. Devin grew up in the city and still lives three blocks from his mom, and he says the weirdest thing he’s pulled out of a chimney so far was a working flip phone from 2008. Dropped it three stories. Screen still lit up.

One Standard, Every Job

The crew doesn’t get to pick which standards to follow based on the house. Whether it’s a rental unit near the Saw Mill River Parkway or a large brick colonial in Armour Villa, every job runs through the same checklist: written price before work starts, live arrival tracking through the Relay Visibility Guarantee, before-and-after photo documentation of the flue, and a written guarantee on every repair that holds for 365 days. If the repair fails, we come back and fix it free: that’s the Done Right Promise, and it’s not a promotion, it’s just the way Cory set the company up in 2003 and never changed. The team carries the same materials the chimney industry actually trusts, including DuraFlex and HeatShield, which means we’re not reaching for whatever’s cheapest on the truck. Every tech is background-checked and uniformed, and they work under the Relay Standard, which is the operating guide for every trade under the Relay Home Co. family. Same process, same photos, same guarantee, whether you’re in a million-dollar home in Cedar Knolls or a two-family by the Bronx border. The standard doesn’t scale down.
